Towards the end of April each year, Kwaranturi; (Forty hours of Adoration of the Holy Eucharist) are held over three days in the Church of St Anthony the Abbot. This to coincide with the anniversary of the birth of the Parish of Xaghra which happened on 28th April 1688 with the Church of St Anthony the Abbot serving as the first Parish Church. The anniversary is then celebrated in the Parish Church, the Basilica dedicated to the Nativity of Our Lady. For the occasion, H.L. Mgr Nicholas was invited to celebrate Solemn Mass at 5.00 p.m. Can Anthony Refalo, Can John Bartolo, Can John Sultana, and Can Anthony Refalo Rapa, the first three named closely associated in a way or another with the Church of St Anthony the Abbot concelebrated with the Bishop. Marvic Gauci on the synthesizer and Mark Bonnici with the mandoline accompanied a group of singers led by soloist sisters Diane and Marita Theuma.
