29 JUN 08 - PRESENTATION OF THE NEW DEACONS TO XAGHRA COMMUNITY The congregation assembled in the Basilica for the 7.00 am Mass on Sunday 29 June 2008, were delighted to see Rev Anthony Bajada, Rev Joseph Curmi and Rev Richard N Farrugia giving their services to the Church in their new mission and role as Deacons. Xaghra Archpriest Mgr Carmelo Refalo celebrated Mass assisted by them. Before Mass started they were officially presented to the congregation. During Mass they fulfilled the new duties bestowed upon them humbly and perfectly. Before the offertory they prepared the altar and for Holy Communion they placed themselves at different points on the presbytery to deliver the Holy Eucharist to the faithful. After Mass they went to Nadur, where the titular feast of St Peter and St Paul was being celebrated, to assist in the Pontifical Solemn Mass there. Since they are the only Deacons on Gozo they will be busy attending the various ceremonies during feasts in the villages and the city of Gozo. They will be gaining experience during the coming year continuing pastoral work in parishes in Gozo as well as in Malta.
