Xaghra celebrated the fourth anniversary of the day the incumbent Archpriest, Mgr Carmelo Refalo was installed as Spiritual Leader of the parish. At 7.00 in the evening on 17th April 2009, solemn concelebration of the Holy Eucharist was held in thanksgiving to God. Co celebrating with Mgr Refalo were his brother Can Anthony Refalo Rapa, his uncle Canon Julian Refalo Rapa, Can. John Bartolo, Hon Can Mario Borg, Fr Jesmond Gauci and Deacons Rev. Anthony Bajada and Rev. Joseph Curmi. Ms Theuma animated Mass while the Choir Voci Angeliche directed by Ms Grace Vella with Seminarian Mario Curmi on the Organ animated the singing. In a short speech at end of Mass, Mgr Refalo gave thanks to God and Our Lady Mary, all religious and laity serving the Church, the sick who he said was sure they prayed for him and the whole Xaghra community. He repeated his promise that as long as his health permitted he would serve God and the people entrusted to his care. The congregation applauded him when he finished. From the altar, the celebrants went in procession to the Church parvis where Mgr Refalo assisted by his uncle Canon Julian Refalo Rapa cut the anniversary cake. He then distributed medium sized Easter eggs (which he said were donated by a Maltese) to all those present.
