The 9th Edition of the Live Crib in Nazzarenu, Xaghra, Gozo, 2001-2009/2010 The Guiding Light Group proudly announces the forthcoming 9th edition of the annual ‘Live Crib’. This year the ‘Live Crib’s theme is going to be: “u medditu f’maxtura” (Lq 2,7) “and laid him in a manger” (Luke 2,7). For the last nine consecutive years, a group of youths and teenagers have been coming together, devoting their spare time to start work on this socio-religious event which is now an important part of the Group’s annual proceedings. Not only is the ‘Live Crib’ now a yearly event in the Group’s calendar, but it has also become one of the must sees organised during the Christmas season. The Guiding Light Group this year will be celebrating its tenth year in the making. The sole and main aim of this group, as always, has been to help local youths and teenagers to come closer to understanding the Word of Jesus Christ. In fact, every week during the scholastic season, local youths and teenagers gather at Nazzarenu in Xaghra, for a weekly religious meeting. While organising voluntary activities, the group also organises activities abroad. A very fulfilling experience was when the group was lucky enough to form part of the worldwide youth event - The World Youth Day - in the year 2000 in the city of Rome, Italy and then also in the year 2005 in the city of Cologne, Germany. During these two events the group met youths from all over the world who all gathered with the same aim - to experience the message of Jesus Christ from fellow youths and to be able to hear the Pope’s message on World Youth Day. The events organized by the group have led to the inspired creation and organization of the Live Crib which now has a permanent slot in the group’s calendar. As in previous years, the Live Crib will again be held in Triq Mannar in Xaghra, Gozo close to Nazzarenu Church. The Live Crib will be located in an old farmhouse and will be divided into several scenes, where visitors will be able to see different characters in their natural environment, typical of the Jewish setting at the time of our Saviour Jesus Christ. In all, the Live Crib will hold about twenty five different characters dressed in typical Jewish clothing which, along with live animals, give life to the Crib and send out a message to the public who visit it. Above all, the main aim of the group is that people visiting the crib go back in time and experience the lifestyle in the time of Jesus and come out back to the 21st century with a message from Jesus Christ through the characters seen in the crib and with a new profound meaning of the true happiness that we should experience during the Christmas period.
