The last act of a long list of activities for Christmas 2009 by the Ghaqda il-Milied fix-Xaghra, Society Christmas in Xaghra, was the distribution of prizes for the first three winners in each category of its competitions namely Large Cribs, Small cribs, Decorated Windows and Grottoes exhibited in the Vocational Centre and presentation of certificates to all those who took part and others in appreciation of lending a useful hand to the Society over the Christmas Period. This took place in the Basilica after the Epiphany Mass. Certificates were distributed by Ms Victoria Camilleri and prizes by Mgr Carmelo Refalo and Xaghra Mayor Mr Joseph Cordina. In his introductory speech, Mr Victor Agius, President of the Society, thanked especially the Mayor and the Local Council for their invaluable help enabling the Society achieve its aim of instilling in the locals the true and real meaning of Christmas with Jesus at its centre.
