Evening Mass on the Second Day of the Novena in preparation for Christmas wasassigned to Fr George Camilleri S.J. a Jesuit missionary in India who hails from Xaghra. Fr George arrived in Gozo from Kolkata a few days earlier to take a much needed rest. The theme of the day was The Word of God. After the reading of the Gospel, Mgr Archpriest carried the Bible to Fr George who kissed it. He then invited a couple of families from the congregation to approach the presbytery where Fr George was holding the Bible so that they too kiss the Bible. Fr George based his sermon on our obligation to listen to the Word of God, to live the Word of God and to spread the Word to others especially by example. Since many children would be attending the Mass, Fr George told them of the difficulties children in Kolkata face to prepare themselves for Christmas, how they travel very long distances even on foot to attend the Novena. The guitar group again animated the singing.
