The Liturgical Feast of St Anthony the Abbot was celebrated in the evening on Saturday 17 January 2009 with Vespers at 5.30 pm followed by Pontifical Concelebrated Mass at 6.00 pm. Vespers were led by Deacon Anthony Bajada with the participation of Mgr Carmelo Refalo, Archpriest, Can Anthony Refalo, Can Joseph Sultana and Fr Jesmond Gauci. Pontifical Mass started at 6.00 pm. H.L. Bishop Nicholas J Cauchi was the principal celebrant. Concelebrating were Mgr Archpriest Carmelo Refalo, Can Anthony Refalo, Can John Bartolo, Can Joseph Sultana, Fr Saviour Sultana, Fr Jesmond Gauc and Deacon Anthony Bajada. A small orchestra, voices and soprano Rita Dimech directed by Mro Frank Debono animated the singing. After Mass, H.L. Bishop Cauchi blessed the newly refurbished Sacristy behind the Chapel. The Service ended with Benediction with the Blessed Sacrament followed by kissing of the relic of the Saint by the congregation.
