On 17th April 2005, Mgr. Carmelo Refalo was installed as the new Archpriest of Xaghra succeeding Mgr Eucaristico Sultana. To commemorate the fifth anniversay, Mass was celebrated at Maria Bambina Basilica on Friday 16th April 2010 since on Saturday, 17th of April, His Holiness Pope Benedict XXVI was arriving in Maltato begina two day visit to the island.
