The members, who two years ago founded the Xaghra Historical Group called a meeting for those involved in the re enacting of historical events in Xaghra these last two years. The purpose was to put the group on a proper footing by approving the statute, elect the first committee and register as a voluntary non governmental organization. The meeting started with prayers recited by the Parish Archpriest Mgr Carmelo Refalo. Later on during the meeting the members present were joined by Fr Joseph Bajada, one of the founders, now Parish Priest of Fontana, and Xaghra Mayor Mr Joseph Cordina. The name of the organization as approved is Xaghra Historical Re Enactment Organization. The statute was read and was unanimously approvedaftersome amendments. The committee was also approved, the first serving officers beingMr Victor Theuma as President, Mr Michael Portelli Secretary and Mr Michael Attard Treasurer. The Archpriest pro tempore will be sitting on the committee with full voting rights without having to be elected. The session ended with the officials cutting the cake for the occasion and enjoying refreshments and that was the first real enactment.
