In anticipation of the feast of Christ, King of All the Universe, to be celebrated on the 17th October at Nazzarenu in Xaghra, the Kumittiva Committee organised a Social Evening and Dinner on Saturday 9th October 2010. It was planned to take place in front of the Nazzarenu Church but inclement weather at the last moment made the organisers move the eventto Ta' Mena Restaurant, on the other side of Xaghra.Besidesits social aspect, this annual event serves as a fund raiser for the coming festivities.Members of the Committee left no stone unturned to make the many scores of patrons attending enjoy the evening. Food under the care of Mrs Frances Busuttil was in abundance and thebarbecue outside the canopiesunder the watchful eyes ofMr Joe Grima made those hungry hungrier with the smell ofroastingbeef, porkand sausages. And Mr Noel Theuma was there overseeing that all patrons were kept happy and satisfied with the food and the entertainment.With the ever present Francesca Zarb compering the event, entertaining the patrons there werethenot to be missedBenny and Tonia. Groups of young people from the L A Dancers under the direction of Ms Attardand to the music provided by John and Sylvana Agius completed the evening's entertainment with dancing. Towards the end, Xaghra Archpriest, Mgr Carmelo Refalo,called and addressed those present wishing them a happy feast. He was followed by the Rector of Nazzarenu Church, Can. Anthony Refalo Rapa who thanked the organisers, and finally Mayor of XaghraMr Joseph Cordina had the last word. The evening cameto an end when all prizes on display were won and removed by the winners. Well done Kumittiva Committee.
