As part of the Feast of Our Lady of Victory, the Xaghra Association of New South Wales held the traditional Dinner Dance on 15th September 2012. This year's guest of honour was Fr Daniel Xerri from Xaghra, Rector of the Sacred Heart Seminary in Gozo.

Before the day of the Dinner Dance, Fr Daniel celebrated Mass on 6th September at the La Vallette Social Centre, where the Maltese Elderly hold their weekly social meetings. On Sunday, 9th September, Fr Daniel took part in the annual festivities organised by the Missionary Society of Saint Paul (MSSP).  With other Maltese priests he celebrated Mass at St. Mary's Cathedral and it was he who delivered the homily. A bus carried Xaghra emigrants for the celebration. The whole group later had dinner together.

An outing was also organised to Wollongong using two buses to transport the whole group. Fr Daniel celebrated the Holy Eucharist at St Francis of Assisi, Warrawong and then all went to lunch with Fr Testa and the Franciscan Sisters from Wollongong. They had great time there and everybody enjoyed it.

Then, on 15th September, the Dinner Dance was held at the Balmoral Function Centre in Blacktown. Over four hundred people attended this year's event. After her speech welcoming Fr Daniel Xerri, Mrs Josephine Bigeni, President of the Xaghra Association of NSW, presented him with a fine stole as a gift from the Xaghra Emigrants in Sydney and a donation in aid of the Gozo Seminary. In reply, Fr Daniel expressed his pleasure to be among his compatriots, the Xaghra emigrants and thanked them for their gifts. He then went round and had a word with each and every one present.
