The feast of St Anthony the Abbot (liturgical feast falling on 17th January) is held in Xaghra on the third Sunday in January, this yearSunday the15th day of January. It is celebrated in the medieval church dedicated to the Saint and which served as the first Parish church when Xaghra was declared a parish on 28th April 1688.

Opening the festivities this year was Archpriest of Zebbug (Gozo), Canon Reuben Micallef. Co celebrants were Canon John Sultana, Church Rector, and his deputy Canon John Bartolo. The singing was animated by Marvic Gauci on the organ.

After Mass, the Rector invited the congregation to kiss the image of Baby Jesussince Christmas was still being celebrated.
