Hanging in Victory Square for Holy Week is a replica of the mosaic Way Of The Cross to be found inside the Basilica. After evening Mass, the faithful gathered seated on the Church parvis while Archpriest Mgr Carmelo Refalo assisted by Deacon Mark Bonello opened the celebration.After initial prayers, the faithful followed the Passion Cross and started moving from station to station. In front of each station they stopped while altar boys from the Vocational Centre led by the Deacon stayed on the parvis reading in meditation of the station using PA system for all to follow. Carrying of the Passion Cross was alternating between religious and lay people. A nun from Xaghra living in Australia was one of them.Also 88 year old Canon Julian Refalo Rapa had his moments. All commercial establishments(restaurants)in the Square cooperated fully for the success of the celebration eitherby closing down altogether or restricting their services keeping the Square, which wasclosed to traffic,clear of street furniture. This was appreciated both by the Archpriest and the people attending.
