On Sunday 6th January 2013, the feast of the Epiphany was celebrated in the Parish with the re enactment of the arrival of the Magi taking place at 10:30 a.m. Riding on horseback, the Three Wise Men, clad in rich royal robes, converged on Victory Square. At the end of the Square, they saw the star in the sky which led them to Baby Jesus cradled in Mary’s arms with Joseph and four shepherds with sheep and a lamb adoring the newly born. In the middle of the Square they alighted and their Pages handed them the gifts of gold, frankincence and myrrh. Then they proceeded on foot, presented their gifts to the Holy Baby and bowed down in adoration. A running commentary was provided by Xaghra Archpriest, Mgr. Carmelo Refalo.
This was the fourth consecutive year that the event took place organised by the Ghaqda Il-Milied fix-Xaghra and generously sponsored by Victor Muscat’s Horse Drawn Carriage Service. Once again the event attracted a good crowd of onlookers who were excited with the presentation.
