Mrs Antoinette Bajada reports on Celebrations of the Feast of Maria Bambina 2013 in Melbourne:
The celebrations went smoothly and as planned.
On 6th September we had the ceremony of the placing of wreaths, observed a minute's silence and Mass celebrated by Fr Emanuel Bonello assisted by Mgr Benedict Camilleri and Fr Emanuel Adami. Attending were the Consul General for Malta, Mr Charles Mifsud and the representative of the Bank of Valletta. Mr Mifsud gave a very interesting and impressive speech commemorating Malta Victories' Day while Fr Bonello delivered a remarkable homily on the Birth of the Virgin Mary.
On the 7th we had the Dinner with three hundred and fifty people attending. Everyone enjoyed himself and the briju was not missing with the Brass Band playing. It was very impressive and we could not have enough. Food was excellent and no one complained as there was a wide choice fitting everybody's diet! The music was lively with the dance floor packed. We really had a good time.
On the 8th we attended the Celebrations held at St Mary Star of the Sea Church where we participated with the Reskeons in the activities as this beautiful Church belongs to the Missionary Society of St Paul. Climax of the celebrations was reached with the statue of the Bambina carried in procession along the streets around the Church.
Afterwards we were invited to the Maltese Community Centre in Parkville for a social gathering and drinks.
