On Sunday, 1 June 2014, a group of children made up of 20 boys and 19 girls from the Parish received their First Holy Communion during Celebration of the Holy Eucharist. They gathered at the premises of the MUSEUM Girls' Section and from there they proceeded in procession to the Basilica where their parents were eagerly waiting. The Celebration of the Holy Eucharist, starting at 11:00 am, was led by Xaghra Archpriest Mgr Carmelo Refalo with other presbyters co celebrating. Before start of the celebration, several boys and girls went up to the Archpriest, who was in front of the High Altar, and presented him with vests used for Mass for him to put on. The Parish Choir Voci Angeliche, under the direction of Ms Grace Vella, animated the singing. After Mass, each child was presented with a memento, a certificate commemorating this important and happy event in their lives.
