On the occasion of his visit to Melbourne, H. L. Bishop Joseph Bonello celebrated Mass at the Maltese Cultural Centre in Albion, Victoria Australiaon the 19th January 2014, the day that the Feast of St Anthony the Abbot was being celebrated in Xaghra. This was part of the programme organised by the Xaghra Association of Australia. Mgr Joseph Bonello who hails from Xaghra (Gozo) Malta is bishop of the Diocese of Juticalpa in the Hondura. Mgr Emanuel Bonello, Parish Priest of St Joseph the Worker Parish and who also hails from Xaghra co celebrated with His Lordship. The new Consul General for Malta, Mr Victor Grech and his wife attended Mass. Mr Grech also read the First Lesson and he delivered a speech at the end of Mass in which he welcomed Mgr Bonello to Melbourne. There was quite a large congregation who welcomed the Bishop to Melbourne. His brother Mario and his sister were amongst the congregation. Music and hymns were organized by Mr Charles Schembri. The Association presented Bishop Bonello with a cheque for his Mission in Honduras, proceeds of a collection which was quite generous. After Mass, Bishop Bonello was happy to meet and talk to the many Xaghra emigrants whilst finger food, tea and coffee were being served to all.
