On 25th April 1965, Bishop of Gozo, the late Mgr Nicholas J Cauchi, ordained four priests at the Cathedral in Victoria. Among them was 26 year old Eucaristico Sultana from Xaghra. Fr Eucaristico Sultana was installed as Archpriest of Xaghra in October 1973 and for 31 years he served the Parish as its Spiritual leader. He is now Archpriest Emeritus in the Parish. To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Mgr Sultana's ordination to the priesthoood, the Rector of the Church of St Anthony the Abbot invited Mgr Sultana to be the principal celebrant at a Mass of Thanksgiving at the Church. This took place a day earlier as Mgr Sultana was to celebrate Mass of Thanksgiving the day after, on Saturday 25th April, the actual date of the anniversary at the Parish Basilica. Co celebrating with Archpriest Emeritus Mgr Eucaristico, were the Rector Can John Sultana and his Vicar Can John Bartolo, Mgr Anthony Refalo and Fr Anthony Bajada. The Community of Sant' Anton turned up for the celebration filling the Chapel. Prior to Mass, Mgr Sultana led an Hour of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and imparting Benediction with the Holy Eucharist before start of Mass. In the end, after a speech by the Rector and to which Mgr Sultana replied, Can John Sultana presented Archpriest Emeritus Mgr Eucaristico with a gift from the Community. This consisted of a framed photo of Mgr Eucaristico in front of the reliquary of St John Maria Vianney when he was accompanying a group of pilgrims led by Can Sultana to Ars in France in February 2010. Mgr Sultana expressed his appreciation of the photo and thanked the Rector and the Community for their gesture. Refreshments were then served in front of the Chapel with Archpriest Emeritus Mgr Eucaristico Sultana cutting the anniversary cake.
