St Nicholas, closely associated with Christmas, kept his annual appointment with the children of the Community of St Anthony the Abbot in Xaghra on Sunday 6th December. Walking next to the docile donkey and followed by children, the bishop crossed St Anthony Square on his way to the 15th century church of St Anthony the Abbot. The Rector, Canon John Sultana greeted him on his arrival in front of the Church and addressed the children reminding them of the significance of St Nicholas and his role at Christmastime. St Nicholas then handed gifts to the children present and carried on his way to return next year. Photos courtesy Canon John Sultana.
