On Friday 6th March 2015, the annual Pilgrimage in Lent with the image of Christ the Redeemer took place. Mass was celebrated at Nazzarenu Church where the statue of Christ Fallen under the Cross had been for the previous few days. Main celebrant was the Parish Archpriest Mgr Carmelo Refalo with the Rector of Nazzarenu Church, Canon Anthony Refalo Rapa, Fr Saviour Sultana and Fr Richard Nazzareno Farrugia concelebrating. Mgr Carmel Mercieca, Xewkija Archpriest, delivered the last of six Lenten sermons at Nazzarenu Church after the reading of the Gospel.
After Mass the Pilgrimage started on its way to the Parish Basilica. This had been hanging in the balance because of inclement weather and rain threatening all the afternoon besides strong winds. But it managed to to make it to the Basilica where Benediction with the Holy Eucharist brought the pilgrimage to an end. As usual, many parishioners followed the statue and there were also the hooded men carrying crosses either in penance or in votive fulfilment.
