The First Day of the Novena was dedicated to the Parish Community. At 09:00 Mass for children was held thus opening the nine days of Novena leading to the Titular Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin.to be celebrated on the 8th of September. At 19:30 the Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Canon Anton Refalo Rapa, Rector of the Church of Jesus of Nazareth which serves a large section of the community in the Nazzarenu area. Co-celebrating were Fr Joseph Bajada, Parish Vicar, Fr Mark Bonello and Fr Michael Curmi, Sannat Archpriest. The Choir Voci Angeliche under the direction of Ms Grace Vella with Mro Ivan Attard on the organ animated the singing. After Mass, the statue of Maria Bambina was solemnly removed from its niche and placed under its canopy in the nave of the Basilica.
