A new pipe organ, built in Germany in the 1960's, was inaugurated at Nazzarenu Church, Xaghra, on Tuesday 20th September 2016. Engineer and Mro. Robert Buhagiar was commissioned to bring the organ over and install it in the organ loft over the main door. Mro Buhagiar and Fr Renzo Cilia, who for many years directed the Choir at the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican, together with others involved were of the opinion that the organ was the best type adaptable to the Nazzarenu Church. Engineer Buhagiar changed all the leather parts giving it a new life expected to last for many years. The organ consists of four hundred and eighteen pipes, all functioning except for twenty five pipes which are for adornment purposes. The installation of this organ fells exactly on the hundredth anniversary of the building of the organ loft in 1916. Special thanks were expressed for the help forthcmong from Mgr Carmelo Refalo, Xaghra Archpriest, and benefactors for the acquisition of the organ which will enhance liturgical celebrations.
