The feast of Candlemas known as il-Kandlora was celebrated at the Basilica on 2nd February 2017. This feast represents the presentation of our Lord Jesus at the Temple and the Purification of Mary, falling forty days after the birth of Jesus. During the service, candles are blessed and distributed to the faithful present. More will be distributed to each household later on to be used during the year. This sub album, though covering an event happening in 2017, is being posted on the album for CHRISTMAS 2016 as actually this feast brings to an end the Christmas-Epiphany Season. While it is customary for Christians in some countries to remove their Christmas decorations on Twelfth Night (Epiphany Eve), those in other Christian countries historically remove them on Candlemas..
