Unlike last year when, due to inclement weather the procession of Our Lady of Sorrows did not take place, this year the weather was permitting and at 6:00pm the procession left the Basilica to wind its way through the streets of the Ggantija Plots. A large crowd of devotees took part following the statue of Our Lady of Sorrows, id-Duluri. The Victory Band of Xaghra led the pilgrimage playing funereal marches followed by the image of Our Lady. Altar boys and the Collegiate Chapter and Clergy followed. at the back of the procession, Archpriest Mgr Carmelo Refalo took part carrying the relic of Our Lady and finally the crowd of devotees. Back in the Basilica, the pilgrimage ended with Benediction with the Blessed Sacrament and the Celebration of the Holy Eucharist, Mass.
