On 2 September 1973, the then Bishop of Gozo, H.L. Mgr Nicholas J Cauchi, put a gold crown with precious stones on the head of the statue of Maria Bambina in Xaghra. Thirty five years later, on the exact date, he was the principal Celebrant at Pontifical High Mass with the Xaghra Collegiate Chapter and Clergy concelebrating. Missa San Antonio composed by the late Maestro di Capella, Mro Nazzareno Refalo, was sung. Orchestra, soloists and Choir Maria Bambina were under the direction of Mro Refalo's grandson, Mr Ronald Camilleri. Mr Louis Bajada was Mass animator. After Mass, His Lordship blessed the Chapel of Our Lady of Mt Carmel which was recently renovated.
