5th September, Second day of Triduum, Mass of Thanksgiving was celebrated. The occasion was the forty years of priesthood of four Xaghra priests who were ordained on 11th May 1968 by the then Bishop of Gozo, Mgr. Nicholas J Cauchi. Bishop Mario Grech celebrated Mass. Besides many members of the Chapter and clergy of the Parish, concelebrating with him were the four priests Mgr Carmelo Hili, Can. Anthony Refalo, Fr Saviour Sultana and Hon Can Joseph Sultana. The latter resides in Canada and is parish Priest of St Aidan's Parish in East Scarborough. Two others who were ordained with them, Can Carmel Cini from Zebbug and Can Joseph Tabone from Gharb, also participated in the concelebration. Relatives of the four priests actively participated reading the Lessons, reciting Prayers of the Faithful and making the Offerings. Joseph Refalo, brother of Can Anthony Refalo animated Mass. His nephew Ronald Camilleri, directed Orchestra, soloists and Maria Bambina Choir in "Missa San Antonio" composed by the late Mro Nazzareno Refalo, Can Refalo's father, and first sung also forty years ago. At end of Mass, Can Refalo presented Archpriest Refalo with a silver paten, a gift to the Basilica by the four priests.
